October News.....

Can you believe that your child has been in school for one month? The first month is the hardest for both children and parents, since it is a transition for both your child and you. As you can see, they like to coming to school and they no longer cry when you leave. Children become acclimated to new situations and are social with their friends.

I love going around to the classrooms, and talking to your children. They are enjoying their studies and are participating during story time, small groups and free play. Our students learn by working with the materials and supplies in the classroom.

New students during the first part of October will be screened by their classroom teachers with the ESI-R screening tool. This tool will only take about 15 minutes and is completed individually. The Early Childhood Supervisor sent out a letter to all parents regarding this screening tool. If you should have any questions regarding this screening, please feel free to contact Mr. Nelke at 973-253-5607.

Make sure to sign off on the permission slips, for the traveling farm that will be at our school on October 29th. We will be having our Halloween Parade on October 31st in the morning; more information will follow as we get closer to the event. Please check our calendar for all our school events this month.

Safety protocols are always in check; please make sure that you inform teachers if you will be picking up your child early, so that the office is aware that you will be coming into the school. Make sure that if you are sending someone to pick up your child that he or she is on the list of allowed persons to pick up your child. Children will not be released to anyone that is not on the list, and they must be at least 18 years old with identification.

If you have any questions, regarding your child or the preschool program, please feel free to contact me at 973-272-7470, ext. 1016, due to Safety Protocols all meetings must be scheduled in advance.

Remember if you have questions for your classroom teacher, they can contact you during their prep periods or if you would like to e-mail them please feel free and they will contact you as soon as they can. Teachers check their e-mails twice a day, and are very good at getting back to parents.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, it gives us energy to start our day. If you want your child to receive Breakfast at school, remember to fill out the white envelopes to preorder your breakfast for the following week. Envelopes go out in the folders on Friday, and need to be returned by Monday. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school.

If you are in need of any social services, please contact Ana Aguilar at 973-272-7470, ext. 1014 she is our school social worker.

I wish all of you a healthy, happy and successful October!
