Principal's Corner

Delayed Phase 2

As you are aware the district has delayed phase 2 for the safety of our students, staff and community during this pandemic. Our Phase 2 is now scheduled to begin on March 8th. Parents will be asked if they would like to continue to be Remote or if they wish to begin our Hybrid Schedule. Students are divided into two groups Purple and Gold. All Hybrid students will have two days of in school instruction for four hours, and three days of remote learning, our remote students will continue with their current class schedule.

Each student has been designated with a Purple or Gold setting, and students that have siblings in other schools should be on the same schedule, unless your family was not connected on Real Time. Remote students will have two designations: a color (purple or gold) and the word Boilermaker, the Boilermaker status is for remote students if they were to come back, they would go into the designated color cohort.

Hybrid students will be lining up outside of our school by the stairs, at that time their temperature will be checked. All staff will also be required to have their temperature daily. All students and parents must wear a mask while waiting on the line, signage will be placed on the ground to help maintain 6 feet of social distancing. Once your child has been checked in you should say good-bye to your child and the Teacher and Para will walk into the building. When they enter school, students will use hand sanitizers and staff will make sure that social distancing continues in the classroom for their safety and well-being.

Teachers will be sending home a poly synthetic folder that will be used to send back and forth communications with the classroom. The district has purchased a mask for every student, and each child will be provided with a lanyard and identification which has their name and picture. On the days, your child comes to school they should have this lanyard with their identification which is labeled purple or gold.

Students will only need a backpack to take home supplies and work to be completed on remote learning days; breakfast/lunch will be sent home daily. All Garfield students will receive free breakfast and lunch until the end of December.
